Lily Lake, Rocky Mountain National Park

From my sister's in Nederland I can take the Peak to Peak highway up to Rocky Mountain Park, and along the way I always stop in at Lily Lake to watch the native greenback cutthroat trout that live there. If you walk slowly along the shore you see them casually cruising as they look for food, and occasionally one will dimple the surface with a rise. I have seen people casting but the most successful angler I saw there was using a short bamboo rod and flicking out a short line from in hiding behind the trees. He must have caught and released twenty trout while I painted this.
