Pyramid Lake

The winter fishing from November through March at Pyramid lake can be freezing or hot, literally and figuratively. I have trouble with the colors if they freeze or the paper blows from my lap. Casting can be trouble too in the ever-present gusting wind.

Occasionally the mighty Lahontan trout will hit on every retrieve, or the purple shadows of clouds will dance across the turquoise waters against the backdrop of the alpenglow on the mountains to the east. And sometimes the air is warm and calm enough to sketch. It always changes; I could paint Pyramid Lake for a lifetime.
