Steamboat lake is known for its excellent camping and good fishing and on a late September Tuesday I had it almost to myself. I picked a site on a narrow island, where I could put in my float tube and paddle down the island and back the other side and end up just a short carry from my camp. As the sun dropped behind me I painted, then in the last fished and caught beautiful rainbow trout, one after another on whatever flies I used.
